Random Beauty Tips #2 - Skincare Edition

Random Tips Part 2
Alright Darlings, I couldn’t wait any longer to post a new article on random tips. Whenever I get thoughts running in my head about things I wanna share with you loves I get antsy and have absolutely no patience and I must post immediately. LoL. Well today this Random Tip article will be geared more towards skincare as oppose to makeup.
   Let’s get the party started:
~ When moisturizing your face, don’t forget to apply some on your brows. Just like the hairs on your head, we wash them when we cleanse and likewise we need to condition them as well.
~ Have an expensive Vitamin C serum? Or thinking of purchasing one? Vitamin C is great for the skin for it is an antioxidant that helps fight free radicals, an essential for anyone’s skincare routine. But what you don’t know is you don’t need to apply everyday. Vitamin C stays active in the skin for 48 hours. Also know that any concentration over 20% is useless. Your face is only going to absorb but so much. So any gimmicks for serums with high concentrations are just that- Gimmicks. Save your money on application and product knowledge and you will be a happy camper. ( Stay tuned for an upcoming  post : Serums 101)
~ Like to wax your body? Don’t wax your nose hairs! The inside of your nose is very vulnerable to passing infections through your bloodstream. When you wax, you can bleed risking serious infection. Your best bet is to carefully trim with mini scissors.
~ Sunblock lips and ears. While we should wear a Broad Spectrum sunblock at all times to prevent UVB & UVA damage (one of the  leading causes for skin Cancer), we should be especially aware of our lips and ears (important if you wear ponytails or have a short haircut that does not cover the ears- this applies to men too!). Not many realize that you can get cancer on your lips and on your ears because the skin is very thin.
~ Don’t pick at your scars. Constantly picking at scars or pimples may not sound like a big deal, however it doesn’t  just cause discoloration, but can also develop cancer because you don’t allow the cells to repair and heal. Cancer is permanently damaged cells that have multiplied. This is an extreme case, but if you keep picking constantly, after time those cells may not ever repair themselves. Ex: Biting on your cheek inside your mouth may not sound bad, but if you continue to chew on your cheek over and over as a habit, years later can turn a nasty habit to a serious health problem.
These tips may be random,( I know it’s sounds like the craziest topics) but hopefully if we become conscious of the small things it can in turn make a big difference in our health.
Thanks for reading and remember any questions on what you have read are more than welcomed. See you soon my loves <3

Skin Care 101

Okay my sweets, let’s talk skincare! Here is the Aesthetician talking… lol.
I’m a huge  believer in good skincare = good makeup. Having a good regular skincare regimen creates a fabulous canvas for your makeup. If you are suffering from flaky, dull skin or even acne flair ups, all that can affect how your makeup turns out. NO one wants to spend 20-30 mins on beautiful eyes, great lashes and to have your skin looking dull because of lack of moisture or even exfoliating accumulated dead skin. Great skin not only shows through makeup, but it also saves on product. Have you ever found yourself slapping on a little more  foundation or even powder because maybe you were too tired to take off your makeup from the night before or that morning?
Having a regular routine doesn’t have to be a chore. Once you learn the basics of what to use and why you need to use it, it becomes second nature within some time. First to get started you need to identify what kind of skin you have. If you have dry skin then you are in need of extra moisture and extra exfoliation. If you have  oily skin, you need oil free products and masks that can soak up all that oil you produce. The routine is pretty much the same for both skin types just with a few different details.
For both types you always want to have a cleanser, toner and moisturizer. And don't forget to protect! Wearing SPF 40 or higher is a must even when you are just geting in your care for a 10 min drive. UVA rays can go through your window in the car and at work.

Here’s a breakdown:
OILY SKIN CHICAS:
Cleasnse   (use a cleanser that is for oily skin, it will strip the dirt and oil)
                ~Day & Night
Tone           (an alcohol free toner will help bring your skin back to a balanced state, alcohol can over dry and make you produce more oil)
                ~Day & Night
Moisturize (oil free moisturizers are still needed because you produce too much oil and not enough water in your skin)
                ~Day & Night
Protect ( SPF 40 or higher)
                 ~Day
Repair* (serums and creams for anti wrinkling or acne)
                ~Night
                Clay Masks & Exfoliation
~Twice a week(mask- soaks up excess oils from the week; exfoliation- to scrubs off dead skin that’s built up)
DRY SKIN MAMAS:
Cleanse (creamy cleansers that are gentle and not harsh. You just need to clean the dirt, you don’t produce enough oil to strip it)
                ~Day & Night
Tone (always use alcohol free, alcohol is over drying)
                ~Day & Night
                Moisturize
                ~Day & Night
Protect ( SPF 40 or higher)
                 ~Day
                Repair*
                ~Night
                Hydrating Masks & Exfoliation
~Twice a week(mask- deep hydration for dull skin; exfoliation- to scrubs off dead skin that’s built up)
 * When using repair or night treatments, apply serums or creams right before you moisturize. Applying such products on clean skin, ensures better penetration.
Once you put into practice a simple cleansing routine your skin will start to look brighter, tighter and refreshed within a week. Once your skin is being taken cared of regularly, it will reduce any skin problems you may have. I have acne problems, common for us oily skin ladies. When I finally buckled down on a routine my breakouts reduced and when I do breakout, it goes away in a flash. When shopping for your products, read the labels. Make sure it says hydrating or oil free. Again once you know your type and what you need for your type, it becomes much easier to shop and even experiment with different brands.
Take a 2 week challenge. For 2 weeks follow the routine accordingly to your skin type, send me your results. I wanna know if you found an improvement in your skin appearance and the quality of your makeup. You won't be disappointed. Have fun my sweets and I hope to hear from you very soon.
